The electrocardiogram is the recording of electrical currents which occur during heart contraction. ECG is recorded in a supine position, with the patient completely relaxed. In order to ensure good contact between the skin and the electrodes, gel or water is put at the place of their attachment. Electrodes are placed on the limbs as well as in certain places on the chest.
